MONDAY MEME

It's Monday, and that means time for a meme.

How many of us have pulled the "one hour" routine?

It's never an hour - more like a minimum of 6.

That's about it.  If you haven't seen my latest video where I read viewer comments, please give it a view.

NEW DETECTOR: WHITES MX5

NEW METAL DETECTOR 😀

I have added a new metal detector to my arsenal.  Say hello to the WHITES MX5.

The MX5 is a versatile detector that can be used almost anywhere - with both a general purpose Coin mode and a Beach mode that allows ground tracking even in wet salt sand.

Here are some highlights according to Big Boys Hobbies:

  • Adjustable Notch Discrimination
  • Automatic Ground Balance with AutoTrac®
  • Backlit Display
  • Beach Mode
  • Coin/Jewelry Mode
  • Depth Reading
  • Lighweight
  • On/OFF Button
  • Salt and Freshwater
  • Tone ID
  • Two-year Parts and Labor Warranty
  • Waterproof 9" Spider Coil

Here is a closer look at the display:

The full specifications are listed here:

  • Audio Output: Speaker & 1/4" Headphone
  • Batteries: 8 "AA"
  • Battery Life: 20
  • Optional Coils: Eclipse Family
  • Standard Coil: 9"
  • Frequency: 14

This unit retails for $719 plus tax in Canada.  However I purchased it for a phenomenal price from an estate sale.  It was never been used, and apart from the original box that is missing - it is complete.  It came with 8 Duracell rechargeable batteries.  I use the same batteries in my Garrett AT Pro and have found them to long lasting between charges.

I have not had the opportunity to swing this detector yet and am looking forward to the first hunt of the spring.  No doubt that between the MX5 and the AT Pro, I should be able to thoroughly search most sites.

THURSDAY: What is this?

Today's item was found in field, which has yielded items from the mid 1800s.

It certainly looks like a partially completed arrowhead.  Could it be a chipping?

Rear does not look worked
This view certainly looks like it's been worked

The right edge is very thin

Edge looks thin

We think it is an unfinished chipping.
What do you think?
