TIP / GEAR DAY - Lesche Sampson Shovel

Today I decided to write about a very critical piece of metal detecting equipment - the shovel.

Let me introduce you to the LESCHE SAMPSON:

This is a beautifully designed and built shovel.

Here are the specs:

T- Handle
Blade length: 7 1/2"
Blade Width: 4"
Overall length: 31"
Weight: 2.5 Lbs

Here's why I like and recommend it:

  • Very light and compact/indiscript
  • The public views it as a digger and not a big shovel
  • Carves through the toughest roots.
  • Very strong - Thor would have problems bending it
  • The T-handle is extremely comfortable
  • Perfect size, you can even use it while kneeling
I don't see any "cons" to owning this.  It is expensive for Canadians when you figure in the exchange rate.  But then no one sells this in Canada.  If you come across a used one for sale GRAB IT.

That's it for today.

Remember to KEEP IT REAL

Posting Schedule - Tentative :-)

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Today is "Black Friday" and I must admit I did make a "door crasher" purchase.

I bought a new laptop.  The retailer said "save $250".  It is a quad core and has a ton of memory.  I should be able to produce better videos for my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC_qT3rthSW6VEiwQrf2uqA

I have been thinking about a posting schedule and have come up with this:
  • Monday will be "Metal Detecting Meme" day
  • Tuesday will be "Tip / Gear" day
  • Wednesday will be "Video Posting" day
  • Thursday will be "What is This" day
  • Friday will be "Find" day
There will be a minimum of one blog post per week - most likely more than one. Without a schedule, things can easily be forgotten, so a schedule it is.

The weather here is dark and drizzly.  No metal detecting today.  I will try to get out this weekend - promise :-)  The ground is by no means frozen yet, so apart from the rain and cold - it is still possible to dig.

That's it for now.  Remember to get out there and KEEP IT REAL.

Digging Canuck 10-7

1876 Large Cent - Metal Detecting Video Sneak Peek

1876 LARGE CENT - Sneak Peek

Recorded this fall, this video was shot in Ancaster, Ontario Canada, in a Victorian pasture.  Most of the relics unearthed in this pasture are dated in the mid 1800s.

I must say I was very surprised when this beautiful large cent was retrieved from the hole.

1876 !!! Now that is old.

I hope you enjoy the video and can sense the exhilaration in my voice.

That's about it for today.

Until tomorrow, remember to KEEP IT REAL.

The Digging Canuck debuts on Blogger

Hey Everyone,

The Digging Canuck is live on Blogger.

Let me introduce myself.

I am all about metal detecting!  I detect mainly in and around Hamilton Ontario Canada, but I take my detector on vacation, so you never know where I will pop up.

I am a former police officer.  My weapon of choice is the Garrett AT Pro International metal detector.  I also use the Garrett Pro Pointer AT, Lesche Sampson and Lesche Model 85 digger.

I detect farm fields, pastures, parks and hidden out-of-the-way areas.  My adventures are filmed and photographed, and posted on YouTube.  You can visit my channel by clicking on this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC_qT3rthSW6VEiwQrf2uqA/featured

Together we explore nature, meet people with similar interests, have some fun, learn new techniques and even check out new gear.

If you are an avid detectorist, or even thinking of taking up the hobby, join me for some adventures.

If you'd like to join me on a dig, feel free to email me.  I'll buy the coffee.
